Why A Co-op?
A grocery store owned by the community can prioritize and pursue our goals.
Affordability
Purchasing fresh, nutritious, and affordable meats and produce
Partnering with the National Co-op of Grocers (NCG) for the power to keep prices affordable
Gaining knowledge from the network of co-op grocers to subsidize local producers and keep costs low
Utilizing public benefits like SNAP, WIC, and TANF
Community Engagement
Engaging with co-op customers, employees, and suppliers for the opportunity to be member-owners
Sourcing a mixture of conventional foods from NCG and local partnerships to meet community needs
Hosting health education with local nonprofits, organizations, and businesses to bolster collective knowledge around food justice
Community Wealth Building
Prioritizing a sliding scale membership that provides perks, discounts, and profits directly back to the community
Creating job opportunities, skills training, and growth opportunities
Strengthening the local economy
